Your Financial Independence Day Review
By Anna Johnson on July 24th, 2009‘Your Financial Independence Day’ by Michael Oksa and Dee Power is a PDF package containing two ebooks: the ‘Your Financial Independence Day’ guide to starting an online business, and the the ’21 Day Action Plan’ by Dee Power, which lays out a day-by-day plan to getting your business up and running. The package sells for $47.
To understand – and get the most out of – the 21 Day Action Plan, you really need to read the Your Financial Independence Day guide first. This is a 71 page PDF divided into four parts: Part One – The Basics of Business, Part Two – Virtual Real Estate, Part Three – Promotion, and Part Four – Learning the Lingo.
‘Part One – The Basics of Business’ provides the reader with a grounding in the attitude necessary to start a business, explains the five basic types of online business, and then discusses some of the practicalities of establishing a business.
This is all good information for someone considering whether or not to set up an online business. Just keep in mind that while some of the practicalities described by the authors are certainly useful, they’re U.S. oriented so, for example, the discussion on corporations and licenses won’t necessarily be relevant to people from other countries.
Part Two – Virtual Real Estate explains key Internet concepts such as what are domains, how to establish a web presence, choosing a niche, performing keyword research, and choosing an affiliate program. While the authors don’t necessarily provide the level of detail every reader will want or need, they do provide easy-to-understand explanations of each topic.
Part Three – Promotion focuses on social media, article marketing, forum marketing and online press releases, while Part Four provides definitions for commonly used Internet terms and acronyms.
Again, the authors provide more of an overview, rather than an in depth discussion, of what you’ll want to know as a new online business owner. They describe the main social networks, explain how to get started in article marketing, and then briefly explain how to use discussion forums and online press releases.
Once you’ve read the Your Financial Independence Day guide, the 21 Day Action Plan by Dee Power provides a day-by-day plan for applying what you’ve learned.
The 21 Day Action Plan seems oriented towards someone setting up a business promoting affiliate products or running Google Adsense ads. For that reason it may not work if, for example, you want to establish an ecommerce store.
All in all, the Your Financial Independence Day package provides a solid introduction to setting up a simple online business, such as an affiliate marketing or Google Adsense business.
I say ‘simple’ only in the sense that if you’re more of a visionary aiming to build a game-changing Internet business, such as the next Google, Twitter or PayPal, this is not the ebook for you.
There’s no doubt, however, that you can make a lot of money from precisely the affiliate marketing or Google Adsense business model explained in Your Financial Independence Day… if you follow the steps, and bring a healthy level of resourcefulness and persistence to the task.
Of course, it may not be possible for everyone to keep to the 21 day plan and automatically apply the concepts discussed in the Your Financial Independence Day guide. Some people will likely need much more detailed explanations of how to do things than those given in the book.
The authors have certainly omitted a lot of information that would give readers a more comprehensive understanding of each topic. However, the package is not supposed to be exhaustive and at a cost of $47 it would be unreasonable for it to cover everything.
The Your Financial Independence Day package does, however, fulfill its promises of: explaining how to start an online business based on a tried and true model; providing a plan of action you can follow; and introducing topics you can explore in greater depth if you wish.

‘Your Financial Independence Day’ is a good primer on how to get started in an affiliate marketing business. From the basics of starting a home based Internet business to the specifics of a day-by-day plan to get you up and running, this ebook and guide will serve you well if you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and start your business.
