How To Participate in Kikabink Reviews

Posting reviews on Kikabink Reviews is a simple, straightforward process. Just do the following:

1. Join Kikabink Reviews

To join Kikabink Reviews, click on ‘Register’ in the panel on the upper-right-hand-side of any webpage within Kikabink.com/reviews.

You’ll then be taken to a webpage where you can create a username and enter your email. A password will then be emailed to you.

2. Log in to Kikabink Reviews

To log-in to Kikabink Reviews, click on ‘Log In’ in the upper-right panel of any Kikabink.com/reviews webpage. Enter your username and password.

3. Manage Your Account

Once logged in, you’ll be taken to your ‘Admin Page’ or ‘Dashboard’. You can disregard some of the items on your Dashboard (they’re automatically generated by WordPress, the software that powers Kikabink Reviews).

The only items to be concerned about are in the upper-left panel of the page:

• ‘My Adsense’
• ‘Posts’
• ‘Comments’
• ‘Profile’

‘My Adsense’ – this is where you can enter your Google Adsense details and start earning 50% of all Google Adsense ad revenues generated on your review pages. Just click on ‘My Adsense’ and follow the instructions.

‘Posts’ - this is where you can add a new post. You can also edit or delete posts you have saved, but not published. (If you wish to edit or delete a post that’s already been published you’ll need to get in touch with us separately). More on posting reviews below.

‘Comments’ - this section displays comments posted on reviews.

‘Profile’ – this is where you can enter key information about yourself. The most important items here are your display name, website, profile and email address.

Your name, website and profile will be displayed on your publicly available community page, along with your latest posts and/or comments.

You might notice that there is no place to upload your photo, but that some Kikabink Reviews members do have their photo displayed on their community pages.

How so?

While it’s not possible to upload your photo to Kikabink Reviews, we do use a plugin that allows your ‘Gravatar’ photo (or other image) to be displayed on your community page and in your posts.

What’s a ‘Gravatar’? Go to Gravatar.com for more information, but it’s basically a photo or image you can upload to the Gravatar website and have displayed on any blog you participate in that supports Gravatars. Many, many blogs support Gravatars – so much so that if you see people’s photos on blog posts or comments, chances are they’re Gravatars.

As you’ll see when you join the Gravatar site (which is free), getting your photo or image to appear when you post on Kikabink Reviews or elsewhere is simply a matter of associating your photo with a given email address. Now, whenever you use that email address on a blog, the relevant photo will appear on your post.

Sooo… in order to display a photo on your Kikabink Reviews community page and in your posts, just establish a free Gravatar account and then, on your Kikabink Reviews profile page, type in the email address associated with your Gravatar. Now your photo will appear on your community page and alongside your posts.

4. Post a Review

There are two ways to post a review on Kikabink Reviews. You can create a new review, or you can add your review to an existing review page.

If you post a new review you can, if permitted, include the product image and link to the product (e.g. affiliate link) and also share in the Google Adsense revenue for that review page.

If you post on an existing review page you can still include a link in your review, but won’t be able to share in any Google Adsense revenue. Don’t let that stop you from adding your review to an existing review page, though. The more helpful reviews you post, the greater will be your standing on Kikabink Reviews and in the Internet marketing community in general.

Also keep in mind that only one review page is permitted per product, although different versions of a product may have different pages.

How to create a new review…

Posting a new review involves posting your general comments about a product or service and then (optionally) rating the product out of 5 in terms of its performance, quality, customer service, innovation and value. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Click on ‘Posts’ and then ‘Add New’ in the upper-left panel of your Admin Page…

OR click on ‘Write a Review’ in the upper-right panel of any Kikabink Reviews webpage.

Step 2: Type the name of the product in the ‘title’ field, the text of your review in the ‘body’ field, and an excerpt in the ‘Excerpt’ field.

Step 3: Scroll down to the ‘custom fields’ section. Select post_link from the drop -down menu in the custom field and type or paste the URL of the product (i.e. sales page or home page) into the adjacent field. Then click the ‘Add Custom Field’ button to update.

Step 4: A new custom field will appear. Here, select post_logo and type or paste the URL of the image of the product into the adjacent field (you can only link to an image, not upload it). Only do this if permitted to do so i.e. if you own the rights to the image or may reproduce it based on your affiliate marketing terms.

All images must be 110 x 150px (or smaller) or they won’t be displayed.

If you do not have explicit permission to insert a product image (e.g. you are a customer or user with no association with the product vendor) just leave this field blank or type in the following image link instead: http://www.kikabink.com/images/1px_spacer.gif

Then click ‘Add Custom Field’ to update.

Step 5: IGNORE all other items on the page (we will modify these anyway).

Step 6: On the mid-left side of the page press ‘Preview’ to preview your post. If necessary, go back and make changes. Then, once you’re happy with the review, click ‘Submit For Review.’ We will then approve or decline your review within the next day or so.

Please note: while we want to publish as many reviews as possible, we can’t guarantee that your review will be approved. For tips on posting a review that is more likely to be approved than not, visit Tips For Writing Reviews

Step 7: Within a day or so after submitting your review we’ll send you an email letting you know whether or not your review has been approved and published. If you don’t receive an email for some reason, check the site (or your account).

Once your review has been published, you can, if you wish, add ratings to your review. To do this, go to the page of your review and scroll down to the bottom of the page to ‘Write Your Own Review’.

Rate the product according to its performance, quality, customer service, innovation and value. If some of these dimensions don’t exactly ‘fit’ the product or service being reviewed, it’s probably best to provide a neutral rating such as 3 out of 5. After you’ve completed your rating, add in some extra comments in the text area. Then click ‘Submit For Review’.

That’s it! (It may seem like quite a few steps but once you you’ve done it a couple of times, posting reviews will be a breeze!)

Add to an existing review page…

To add your review to an existing review page, simply log-in to the site and then go to the product or service page in question. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to ‘Write Your Own Review’ and rate and comment on the product or service accordingly. Again, we’ll approve or decline your review within a day or so.
