Jefferies & Co. financial analyst Youssef Squali estimates that YouTube will account for 3 percent of Google’s net revenue this year, or $500 million.

According to the Silicon Alley Insider’s Nicholas Carlson, $500 million in net revenue is more than twice as much as what most people expected YouTube to make this year.

Carlson believes the forecast is based on the revenue expected from YouTube’s search advertising business.
