According to All Things Digital columnist Kara Swisher, the long-planned Yahoo layoffs will take place today.

A massive 1,500 employees are set to lose their jobs today (although several sources inside Yahoo believe the number may end up being closer to 2,000 due to the worsening economic conditions). Yahoo will retrench staff across the company but is expected to concentrate more on people in ‘cost centers’ such as administration, human resources and finance.

Sadly, most of those to be let go will find out for the first time today…
