Worldwide Mobile Gaming to Reach $18 Billion by 2014
By Anna Johnson on August 12th, 2009According to telecommunications research firm, Pyramid Research, the global mobile gaming market will grow at a 16.6 percent annual growth rate to reach $18 billion in 2014.
Driven by explosive mobile subscriber growth in emerging markets such as Brazil, China, India, Mexico, Nigeria, Poland, Russia, and South Africa, global mobile gaming revenue has grown strongly to date, reaching $6.9 billion in 2008.
Notably, growth in emerging markets appears to be largely due to declining handset and data access prices, as well as the relatively less common availability of PCs and gaming consoles. Together, these forces have made mobile phones the primary device for accessing content such as websites and games.
