Wolfram|Alpha Lets You Copy or Create Widgets For Your Site

By Anna Johnson on July 28th, 2010

A great way to add value to your blog or website is to provide web visitors with helpful tools that keep them coming back for more. For that reason, you’ll want to know about Wolfram|Alpha Widgets (Beta).

Wolfram|Alpha Widgets lets you embed a range of nifty widgets on your blog or website or create your own widgets using Wolfram|Alpha’s computing power.

Wolfram|Alpha Widgets are mini-software applications or ‘mini-apps’ built on top of Wolfram|Alpha queries. Ranging from calorie counters to salary comparison tools, these make use of Wolfram|Alpha’s extensive and powerful computational knowledge engine.

You can browse Wolfram|Alpha’s gallery of existing widgets and embed one (or more) on your website or blog (customizing the color and other attributes to fit with your site’s look), or share them in Facebook, Twitter, email or elsewhere.

Wolfram|Alpha’s Widget Gallery currently includes all sorts of widgets. There’s a calorie counter, salary comparison tool, kitchen unit converter and a widget that displays housing price trends, to name just a handful of the many widgets available.

Alternatively, you can create your own widget using the Wolfram|Alpha Widget Builder.
