O’Reilly Media and TechWeb will not be hosting Web 2.0 Expo Europe in 2009. TechCrunch reports that the companies have cancelled the normally annual event for this year due to the recession.

Web 2.0 Expo Europe has traditionally involved tech companies displaying their wares, and speakers presenting on a range of topics.

The move is understandable but certainly a dampener for European Internet and technology companies.
