Video Ad Network and Ad Serving Platform Sales To Grow By 41 Percent in 2010

By Anna Johnson on May 18th, 2010

AccuStream Research expects online video advertising networks and media ad serving platforms to generate $377 million in video CPM share and fee-based revenues in 2010. This is 41 percent more than in 2009.

AccuStream Research has detailed its estimates in a new report, ‘Video Advertising Networks and Media Platforms: Revenue Forecasts 2010 – 2012′, which includes the company’s analysis of video inventory, sellout rates, CPMs, participation percentages and serving fee components of gross media spend.

The report includes analyses of such third party video networks – representing premium pre-roll inventory, overlays and promotional executions – as BBE, Tremor Media, YuMe, ScanScout, Adap.tv, Magnify.net, SpotXChange, Turnhere, Wizzard Media and VideoEgg, among others. Search and discovery platforms and services include both Blinkx and Truveo.

It’s not surprising. As online video advertising continues to boom – helped by general excitement about the category and revived ad spending by major brands – the companies serving all the ads stand to benefit.

Even so, we can expect the ad networks and ad serving markets to go through some kind of consolidation as the smaller players find it difficult to compete. For now, let’s try to benefit from the current ‘sweet spot’ of relatively cheap ad inventory arising from cut-through competition among the players and the eagerness of publishers to attract advertisers.
