U.S. Mobile Internet Access Doubles
By Anna Johnson on March 17th, 2009Research by comScore indicates that, in the United States, the number of people using their mobile devices to access news and information on the Internet has more than doubled in the past year.
While 36.8 million used their mobile devices to access the Internet in January 2008, the number jumped to 63.2 million in January 2009.
Furthermore, in January 2009, 22.4 million (35 percent) of those who used their mobile devices to access the Internet did so daily; more than double that of the percentage of daily users a year before.
The most popular mobile Internet applications were news and information (used by 22.3 million people), social networking sites or blogs (9.2 million people), and applications to facilitate trading stocks or accessing financial accounts (3.3 million).
