U.S. Online Video: 33 Billion Videos Viewed in December 2009

Data from comScore Video Metrix indicates that nearly 178 million U.S. Internet users (86.5 percent of the total U.S. Internet audience) watched online videos in December 2009, with 33.2 billion videos viewed during the month.

In December 2009, the most popular online video site was YouTube, which attracted 134.4 million visitors and had 13.2 billion videos viewed (97.1 videos per viewer) – a 39.8 percent share of the online video market.

Hulu was the second most popular site in terms of videos viewed, with 1 billion videos viewed (3 percent of the online video market). Microsoft Sites came in third with 561 million (1.7 percent of the online video market), followed by Fox Interactive Media (of which MySpace forms the major part) with 551 million (1.7 percent) and Yahoo with 539 million (1.6 percent).
