U.S. Mobile Video Viewers To Reach 23.9 Million in 2010
By Anna Johnson on August 8th, 2010eMarketer forecasts that U.S. mobile video viewers will increase by almost 30 percent to reach 23.9 million in 2010.
While this amounts to just 7.7 percent of the total U.S. population and below 10 percent of mobile phone users, eMarketer expects mobile video users to double to 47.9 million by 2013, and grow to 56.7 million by 2014.
eMarketer counts mobile video viewers as people of any age who watch video content on mobile phones through mobile browsers, subscriptions, downloads or applications at least once per month.
Just as eMarketer forecasts mobile video users to grow over the next few years, so too does it expect mobile video producers to reap the rewards. eMarketer expects mobile video revenues – including direct downloads, subscriptions and ad-supported video – to rise from $436 million in 2009 to $1.34 billion in 2014.
