U.S. Mobile Internet Users Spend Half Their Time on Social Networks
By Anna Johnson on May 3rd, 2010Ground Truth, a mobile media measurement firm, reckons U.S. mobile Internet users spend more than half their mobile Internet time on social networking activities. What’s more, users of mobile-specific social networks are more engaged than users of PC-based social networks, such as Facebook and MySpace.
Based on its census of 3.05 million U.S. mobile phone users, Ground Truth found that mobile Internet users spent their time according to the following percentages during the week ended April 4, 2010:
- Social Networking: 59.83 percent
- Portals: 13.65 percent
- Operator: 9.02 percent
- Messaging: 7.35 percent
- Mobile Downloads: 1.27 percent
- All Other: 8.88 percent
