U.S. Mobile Ad Spending To Increase 79 Percent to $743 Million

By Anna Johnson on November 1st, 2010

eMarketer reckons U.S. mobile advertising spending will increase by 79 percent to reach $743 million in 2010. Furthermore, the market research firm forecasts mobile ad spending to reach $1.1 billion in 2011 and exceed $2.5 billion by 2014.

Video, display and search ad spending on mobile will more than double, while growth in SMS advertising – currently the biggest mobile ad segment, attracting $327 million in advertising in 2010 – is set to grow more slowly.

eMarketer expects spending on the other formats to surpass SMS marketing, as more people use smartphones where more ad formats incorporating audio, video and interactivity are possible.
