U.S. Internet Users Spend 4.5 Hours on YouTube Per Month
By Anna Johnson on November 21st, 2010In October 2010, 175 million U.S. Internet users watched online video. During the month, they spent an average of 15.1 hours viewing online video in general and 4.5 hours watching YouTube videos alone.
Based on comScore Video Metrix data, the most popular online video properties by viewer were as follows:
- Google Sites (mainly YouTube): 146.3 million unique viewers
- Yahoo! Sites: 53.8 million viewers
- Viacom Digital: 52.9 million viewers
- VEVO: 47.6 million viewers
- Facebook.com: 47.4 million viewers
Google Sites also had the highest number of viewing sessions, exceeding 2.0 billion in October, with the average time spent per viewer at 4.5 hours. The duration of the average online video was 5.0 minutes.
