U.S. Internet Ad Revenues Reach Record Breaking $12 Billion in First Half of 2010
By Anna Johnson on October 20th, 2010The IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report for the first half of 2010 shows that U.S. Internet advertising revenues reached $12.1 billion over the 6 month period. This sets a new half-year record and is 11.3 percent higher than the amount spent in the first half of 2009.
Search advertising during the first half of 2010 was up by an impressive 47 percent over last year to reach $5.7 billion, whilst digital video grew by an impressive 31 percent, and display advertising as a whole (including banner ads, rich media, digital video and sponsorships) amounted to over $4.4 billion in spending, close to 16 percent over the same period in 2009.
While much of the U.S. economy is still in recession, online advertising seems to have climbed out of the lull of 2009, and looks set to grow further, as marketers seek to reach more people as they spend more time online.
