Twitter’s Tweet Button To Replace TweetMeme
By Anna Johnson on August 16th, 2010Twitter has introduced its own Tweet Button, as TweetMeme (the company behind the original green retweet button) aims to withdraw from the ‘retweet market’ and focus on other products.
Here at Kikabink News we’ve already replaced the TweetMeme button with Twitter’s Tweet Button (just visit the Kikabink News Internet marketing blog to see the new button).
You can install the button on your website by following the instructions here or, if you’re running a WordPress blog, by downloading and installing one of the various plugins that automatically display the Tweet Button for you.
TweetMeme must have mixed feelings about Twitter’s introduction of the Tweet Button. Introduced at the start of 2009, TweetMeme’s retweet button reached more than 750 million daily retweet button impressions.
Yet the company probably knew it was just a matter of time before Twitter would introduce its own ‘official’ tweet button. As such, TweetMeme is bowing out gracefully and will assist Twitter with:
“the technical challenges involved with the button and secondly we will be working even more closely in the future on delivering real-time curation of the Twitter Firehose.”
