Research by comScore reveals that worldwide visitors to Twitter.com increased by 95 percent in March 2009, reaching a massive 19.1 million.

In February, Twitter’s visitors numbered about half that, at 9.8 million. In March, there were 9.3 million visitors to Twitter from the U.S. alone.

While the numbers constitute visitors to Twitter, rather than Twitter users, they still reflect the enormous popularity of the micro-blogging service.

TechCrunch believes Twitter is on track to have 50 million monthly visitors by June.
