Twitter Launches Real-Time Search
By Anna Johnson on May 4th, 2009Have you checked your Twitter page and noticed something new – and very cool – on the right hand side of your tweets? You should see a search box and a list of trending topics. That’s right, Twitter has just launched real-time Twitter search for all Twitter users.
Yes, that’s REAL TIME, which means you can get up-to-the-moment results about anything being discussed on Twitter. With Twitter becoming increasingly powerful as a source of current news, information, and of course, opinions, this is literally your chance to be a ‘fly on the wall’ during any public Twitter discussion.
You can also save your searches, in which case Twitter will place those keywords as links on your home page below the search box. You can later remove these saved searches if you wish.
In addition to real-time search functionality, Twitter has also added a list of the latest trending phrases used on Twitter to your home page. These phrases are updated throughout the day and give you, in one quick glance, a list of what are the most popular topics of discussion on Twitter.
These are great enhancements that should be VERY useful to us, as Internet marketers, when it comes to keeping up with our markets…
