Twitter Gets 2 Billion Tweets Per Month
By Anna Johnson on June 14th, 2010Twitter reached 1.99 billion tweets in May 2010 and is likely to exceed 2 billion in June, according to research by Pingdom.
That’s double the number of tweets the micro-blogging service processed in December 2009, when it facilitated 1 billion tweets for the first time. If Twitter doubles its tweet volume over the coming six months it will be processing a mammoth 4 billion tweets by December 2010.
According to Pingdom, Twitter achieved the following in May 2010:
- 64 million tweets per day;
- 2.7 million tweets per hour;
- 44,481 tweets per minute; and
- 741 tweets per second.
