Traffic Is The Biggest Hurdle For 6 out of 10 Internet Marketers
By Anna Johnson on June 9th, 2010Six out of 10 – 67 percent of – Internet marketers regard traffic as their biggest hurdle to making money online, according to a recent Intellimon survey of 50,000 people building online businesses.
Intellimon, which makes the popular XSitePro Website design software, also finds that many Internet marketers are struggling to create and find content for their websites. The survey reveals that 40 percent of aspiring Internet business owners regard writing content for their sites to be a big roadblock, and nearly 30 percent believed finding good content is blocking them from making money on the Internet.
Commenting on the results of the study, Intellimon founder and CEO Paul Smithson said:
“Two-thirds of people setting up online businesses are saying they can’t get the traffic they need to make their sites successful. Another 40 percent find writing content for their sites to be a major hurdle, and nearly 30 percent say they can’t find good content. Our results are proving content really is king.”
Meanwhile 32 percent of Internet marketers believe design issues make it difficult for them to make money online, while 21 percent say building a website is a big challenge.
In summary, Internet marketers regard the biggest hurdles to making money online are, in order:
- Getting traffic (67 percent)
- Writing content (40 percent)
- Design issues (32 percent)
- Finding good content (30 percent)
- Building a website (21 percent)
(Numbers don’t add to 100 percent as survey respondents could nominate more than one issue as hampering their efforts to make money on the Internet).

Wow, I really never would have that traffic and writing content would be a hurdle for most. They are the two things that really are required to do IM.
