Top Spot on Google Gets 36 Percent of Clicks
By Anna Johnson on May 4th, 2011Research from Optify shows that, on average, the top result on Google attracts more than 36 percent of clicks for a given search term or phrase.
Optify’s study finds that websites ranked number one have an average click-through rate (CTR) of 36.4 percent, with the second ranked result having a 12.5 percent CTR and the third result having a 9.5 percent CTR.
Looking at the average CTRs for all the other search engine ranks, it appears that having the top spot on Google will get you about three times as much traffic as having a #2 ranking and four times as much as a #3 ranking.
