Top 50 Social Media Brands For 2009 Based On ‘Conversation’

Infegy has announced its list of the top 50 social media brands for 2009.

Infegy used the Social Radar tool to devise its list of the top 50 social media brands. Social Radar ranks brands according to their ‘online conversation volume’ and Infegy used the tool to analyze millions of blog posts, news feeds, forums, social networks and Twitter posts to aggregate a list of the words and brands mentioned most frequently on the Internet during 2009.

To avoid the rankings being influenced by individual fans who frequently mentioned a given brand, the top 50 social media brands list is based on the number of unique individuals or sources who posted content about each brand, rather than the overall number of mentions.

Also note that the list doesn’t necessarily distinguish between ‘positive’ and ‘negative’ conversion volume…
