Top 10 Sports Fan Sites in May 2009

Want to know what were the most popular U.S. sports fan websites in May 2009? According to Compete, which tracks the Internet usage of 2 million U.S. Internet users – the top sports fan site in May was MLB.com – the site for major league baseball.

According to Compete, MLB.com attracted more than 12.2 million visitors in May 2009, 35 percent more visitors than in May 2008. MLB.com was followed by NBA.com with 5.6 million unique visitors (32 percent higher than in May 2008), Nascar.com with 3.7 million (down 5 percent since May 2008) and NHL.com with 2.9 million visitors (up 42 percent).

Rounding out the top 10 were: WWE.com with 1.7 million users (down 31 percent from May 2008), PGATour.com with 1.2 million (up 82 percent), Minorleaguebaseball.com with 1.1 million (up 46 percent), UFC.com with 945,495 visitors (up 23 percent) and KentuckyDerby.com with 932,266 visitors (up 17 percent).
