Three in Five U.S. Households Have Home Internet Access
By Anna Johnson on June 12th, 2009It’s two years old, but it’s the most recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau. Released last week, the U.S. October 2007 Census survey reveals that three in five U.S. households have Internet access at home.
Of the 110.8 million of U.S. households studied, 68.7 million (62 percent) had Internet access, up from 55 percent in 2003, and 18 percent in 1997. 51 percent of the households with Internet access had a high-speed Internet connection, while 11 percent had a dial-up connection.
The October 2007 Census survey also showed that a householder with tertiary education (a bachelor’s or advanced degree) was 3.5 times more likely to have Internet access than someone who dropped out of high school.
