TheFunded Founder Institute to Train Startup CEOs

By Anna Johnson on March 9th, 2009

As reported in TechCrunch, founder of VC-rating site TheFunded, Adeo Ressi, plans to launch TheFunded Founder Institute to train founders of startup companies to become competent chief executives.

The Institute will offer its semester-length program to those with an idea for a startup, but who have not yet started a company. Classes will be offered on a part-time basis and offered to a maximum of 150 students.

Over the four month duration of the program, students will go through an fast-paced training schedule in which they’ll be exposed to lawyers, CEOs, and investors.

By the end of the program, all students will have to have incorporated their company, have a prototype of their product or service, and be ready for prospective investors to evaluate.

TheFunded Founder Institute won’t take an initial investment stake in a given company. Instead it will take out a ‘warrant’ which will allow the Institute to invest in the company for ‘fair market value’ at any time during the four month program.

Classes are scheduled to start towards the end of the U.S. spring. No-one can yet apply but the Institute plans to invite online applications soon.

Good news for aspiring entrepreneurs who aren’t accepted into the program: the entire curriculum will be available online to the mass public.
