The Success Secret NOBODY Can Teach You
By Anna Johnson on January 24th, 2009I’m a big fan of continuing education and fervently believe that educating yourself is the best investment you can make. But there are some things you cannot learn from a book, seminar or even a mentor. And one of those is the secret to YOUR success.
Other people – whether entrepreneurs, consultants, teachers, speakers or writers, etc can tell you – even teach you – what has made their businesses successful, or what has made the businesses they’ve worked with successful.
But while you can model your business on those other businesses, there is only so much modeling you can do before the inherent differences between you and your business prevent you from duplicating, exactly, the results of the business you are modeling.
At some point it will become obvious that what works for others doesn’t necessarily work for you or your team. And the reverse is true too: what can work for you, may not work for others.
Not only is this realization inevitable but it’s also exciting.
Look around at elite achievers in any field – in sports, the arts, science, business, etc – they all have a ‘secret’ advantage that allows them and ONLY them to do what they do so well.
Somehow they have identified, corralled and channeled their unique strengths into a unique advantage that has allowed them to forge new paths and achieve unprecedented results.
And the same principle applies to teams and organizations as well as individuals.
And when I say ‘secret’ I really mean secret.
Let’s take an entrepreneurial Internet marketer like you. Chances are, you weren’t born knowing exactly what special advantage you have that will help you scale the highest heights in your Internet marketing business.
This is more likely to be something you discover over time, as you learn more about business… and yourself.
All of which means it’s a good idea to stay attune to what works for you, and what doesn’t. In particular, to what you (and your business) does well and what you may be able to do, that others may not.
And, just as you may want to ditch ideas, strategies or tactics that, no matter what you do, just don’t seem to work for you… you’re wise to push further and harder in directions that DO yield positive results, even though others say ‘it can’t be done.’
As you do so, your secret advantage may start becoming increasingly clear to you, and you can ride it for all its worth.
