The New York Times Shares Article Links and Excerpts
By Anna Johnson on February 7th, 2009In a rather radical move, The New York Times has just released a new Application Programming Interface (API) that makes every article the newspaper has published since 1981 – some 2.8 million articles – available to other sites to link to, or excerpt.
The new API includes 28 searchable fields and content is updated every hour. As a result of the initiative, other websites will be able to display dynamic links to, or excerpts of, New York Times articles.
