Tech Layoffs Reach 80,000 in January
By Anna Johnson on January 26th, 2009TechCrunch reports that 80,076 people in technology companies were laid off in January. That’s based on TechCrunch’s ‘LayOff Tracker’ which consists of layoffs announced or completed during the month.
While the number is itself shocking, the number is largely based on U.S. tech companies. Also, it doesn’t reflect various layoffs at companies TechCrunch doesn’t know about – the small companies that don’t tend to get coverage by popular blogs such as TechCrunch.
