Social Networks Account for Over 20 Percent of U.S. Online Display Ad Impressions

comScore, Inc. has found that in July 2009, social network sites accounted for 21.1 percent of U.S. online advertising impressions. Moreover, MySpace and Facebook together delivered more than 80 percent of those ad impressions.

During the month, the top online display ad publishers in the social networking category were as follows:

  1. MySpace (9.2 percent share of display ads on social networks).
  2. Facebook (8.2 percent)
  3. Tagged (0.6 percent)
  4. MocoSpace (0.2 percent)
  5. Hi5 (0.1 percent)
  6. Bebo (0.1 percent)
  7. Classmates (0.1 percent)
  8. BlackPlanet (0.1 percent)
  9. GaiaOnline (0.1 percent)
  10. DeviantArt (0.1 percent)
