Small Businesses Looking For Help On The Internet
By Anna Johnson on April 15th, 2009Small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) are increasingly embracing the Internet in order to market themselves.
A recent poll of United States marketers by Bredin Business Information shows that faced with the challenges of funding new projects, growing the business with limited resources, and increasing awareness of their products and services, SMBs are increasing their online activities.
Meanwhile, Borrell Associates estimates that SMBs spent $7.4 billion on local online marketing in 2008. $6.8 billion of this was devoted to ‘online ad spending’, while $0.6 billion was for ‘non-ad online marketing spending’.
Both are predicted to increase, with SMBs set to increase their online ad spending by 8.8 percent to reach $7.4 billion in 2013, and to increase their non-ad online marketing spending by 167 percent to reach $1.6 billion in 2013.
