Skype Available on iPhone, iPod and BlackBerry Devices

By Anna Johnson on April 2nd, 2009

Skype, the eBay-owned maker of the popular Internet based telephone service, will make its free software available on Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch and, beginning in May, various BlackBerry phones.

While there are already tools available to make Skype work on mobile phones, none offer all of Skype’s features. Skype plans to offer its full-featured application to the nominated phones and devices.

Skype, with 400 million users around the world, is clearly aiming to dominate mobile Internet telephony – and maybe mobile telephony in general – just as it has dominated computer based Internet telephony. Watch out telcos!
