Sedo To Sell Sex.com, While Sex Related Domains Top 4,000 in The Domain Aftermarkets

domain name on behalf of Escom LLC. The proposed sale comes at a time when over 4,000 domain names containing the word ‘sex’ are being offered for sale in the top domain aftermarkets.
Escom bought the sex.com domain for a reported $14 million back in 2006. Whether Sedo manages to secure a similar price remains to be seen. The rise of branded (rather than generic) names in this, as well as other market niches, may somewhat diminish the value of such a descriptive domain name.
Meanwhile, according to figures from domaining investment platform Domainer Income, there are (at the time of writing) 4,237 domain names available for purchase via the top aftermarket and auction sites, and 216 expired top level domains, all containing the keyword ‘sex’.
