Over Half of U.S. Adults Play Video Games
By Anna Johnson on December 13th, 2008eMarketer reports that over 50 percent of U.S. adults play video games, and about one in five play every day or almost every day.
Research by the Pew Internet & American Life Project has found that over 80 percent of adults aged 18 to 29 are video gamers, while 23 percent of those 65 and older are video gamers.
Far from being a male-dominated activity, men are only slightly more likely than women to play video games. Meanwhile, urban-dwellers are more likely to play video games than people in rural areas. Significantly, there is no major variation in game playing between income groups.
