Only Half Of Social Network Members Use Their Real Name
By Anna Johnson on May 13th, 2010So you think you know who you’re talking to online? Think again. A survey by Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has found that only half (51 percent) of Americans who visit social networking sites use their real names.
Chubb’s survey of 1,040 Americans found that 18 percent of social network users ‘always’ use a nickname, while a third (31 percent) ‘sometimes’ use their real name and ‘sometimes’ use a nickname, and the rest use their real name.
