Online Gambling Skyrockets 114 Percent in October 2010
By Anna Johnson on December 1st, 2010In the U.S., visitors to online gambling sites reached almost 32 million in October 2010, reflecting a 114 percent increase over the number of visitors in September 2010.
According to comScore data, online gambling was the highest growing website category for the second consecutive month.
The research firm attributes much of the popularity of online gambling sites to the recent World Series of Poker tournaments. Indeed, poker sites attracted big increases in visitors in October. The most popular poker related website was ullTiltPoker, which attracted 4.7 million visitors (up 12 percent over last year), followed by PokerStars with 2.5 million visitors.
The top U.S. online gambling websites in October 2010 were as follows:
- ullTiltPoker: 4.7 million visitors (up 12 percent)
- PokerStars: 2.5 million visitors
- UB.com: 1.8 million visitors
- Kingolotto: 1.7 million visitors (up 23 percent)
- Absolute Poker: 1.6 million (up 19 percent)
- Sportingbet PLC: 1.4 million (up 39 percent)
