One in Four Americans Listens To an MP3 Player in Their Car
By Anna Johnson on April 21st, 2010Nearly one in four Americans listens to audio from an iPod or other MP3 player in the car.
Overcoming the difficulties of connecting a mobile device to a car stereo, 54 percent of MP3 device owners, and 24 percent of Americans overall, listen to an iPod, iPhone or other MP3 device whilst driving.
A survey of 1,753 Americans aged 12 years and older by Arbitron Inc, and Edison Research – culminating in the report, ‘The Infinite Dial 2010: Digital Platforms and the Future of Radio’ – also indicates growing enthusiasm for online radio in the car and on mobile devices.
Three out of ten 12-to-24s are “very interested” in listening to online radio whilst in the car and on their mobile devices. Of these, 30 percent are “very interested” in listening to online radio whilst in a car, and 28 percent are “very interested” in listening to online radio on mobile devices.
