Older Americans Embrace Internet
By Anna Johnson on March 20th, 2009Research by the Pew Internet and American Life Project indicates that the largest jump in Internet penetration between 2005 to 2008 was in the category of users aged 70 and older.
Internet penetration among people aged 70 to 74 increased from 26 percent in 2005 to 45 percent in 2008.
For people 75 and older, the increase was 10 percentage points, from 17 percent in 2005 to 27 percent in 2008.
Younger age segments also saw growth, although in the 35-39 year old category Internet penetration was steady at 80 percent and in the 25-29 year old category, Internet penetration was steady at 85 percent.
