New MySpace To Launch This Fall
By Anna Johnson on July 25th, 2010News Corporation Digital CEO Jon Miller says a new, revitalized MySpace will launch this fall (i.e. during the North American autumn).
Speaking with Fortune magazine’s Daniel Roth at the Fortune Brainstorm conference in Aspen, Colorado, Miller said MySpace is ‘pregnant with product’ and will aim to ‘go younger’ in order to appeal to its core audience.
For some time now, MySpace has been re-positioning itself as a popular culture site oriented more around music and videos – covering popular music, movies, comedy, celebrity, fashion and sports – and less around community.
Internet marketers aiming at the same target market as that of MySpace should certainly remain attuned to MySpace’s evolution. Clearly, however, the site is no longer a general social media platform on par with Facebook and Twitter.
