MySpace Cuts Headcount By 30 Percent
By Anna Johnson on June 17th, 2009News Corporation owned social network MySpace has laid off just under 30 percent of its staff, reducing its full-time employee numbers to 1,000 people.
As reported by CNET, the layoffs were evenly distributed across all U.S. divisions of the company. MySpace has made no announcement about the fate of those in its overseas offices.
MySpace CEO Owen Van Natta said the move was made in response to bloated staffing levels that hindered MySpace’s ability to be “an efficient and nimble team-oriented company.”
