More Adults Using Social Networks
By Anna Johnson on January 31st, 2009eMarketer reports that the share of adult Internet users with a profile on an online social network website has more than quadrupled in the last 3 years. It has increased from 8 percent to 35 percent between 2005 and 2008.
Based on a November–December 2008 Pew Internet & American Life Project survey, indications are that while adults of all ages use social networks, younger adults are much more likely to do so.
About 75 percent of those aged 18 to 24 use social networks, compared with just 7 percent of Internet users aged 65 and over.
