Microsoft To Open Retail Stores

By Anna Johnson on February 13th, 2009

Announcing the appointment of David Porter as Corporate Vice President of Retail Stores, Microsoft plans to open retail stores.

Microsoft has not revealed the details of its stores, except to say that in his new role, Mr Porter will focus on transforming the PC and device-buying experience for retail consumers and developing and rolling out new Microsoft-branded stores.

David Porter certainly seems qualified for the job. He spent 25 years at Wal-Mart rising to vice president and general merchandise manager of Entertainment. He then went to Dreamworks SKG, where he was head of worldwide product distribution.
