Microsoft To Launch Windows 7 on October 22, 2009
By Anna Johnson on June 3rd, 2009Microsoft plans to release Windows 7 in both stores and in new PCs on October 22, 2009.
To meet the deadline, Microsoft intends to complete development of the operating system by the middle or end of July.
Those who buy machines loaded with the Windows Vista operating system close to the launch date will probably get a free or discounted copy of Windows 7. An upgrade will otherwise be available to those with Vista.
Five versions of Windows 7 are slated for release: Starter, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate. Microsoft is yet to release details about pricing.
