Microsoft Launches Internet Explorer 8, Google Releases Faster Chrome Beta

By Anna Johnson on March 20th, 2009

It’s all happening on the web browser front. Earlier in the week, Google released a new beta version of its Chrome web browser. Then yesterday Microsoft launched Internet Explorer 8 (IE8).

Google says its new beta release of Chrome is 35 percent faster than the current, stable version of Chrome, and almost double the speed of the original beta version.

Meanwhile, Microsoft says its new IE8 browser is faster, easier to use, and more secure than both its previous browsers and the browsers of other vendors.

Google also launched Chrome Experiments to showcase ‘cool experiments for both JavaScript and web browsers.’ Basically, anyone can submit a JavaScript application to Google for inclusion on the site.

Now, you may have no intention of using either Chrome or IE8 (‘I love my Firefox, right?) but if a sizable portion of your website visitors use these or any other browsers, you’ll want to download them.

This is simply to see how your website looks in each browser and browser version, so you can then make any modifications as are necessary to ensure it works correctly for your web visitors.

Here’s where to check out the Chrome beta and IE8 respectively:
