Microsoft and Yahoo Back On Again?
By Anna Johnson on January 19th, 2009The New York Times reports that Microsoft CEO Steven Ballmer, and Yahoo chairman, Roy J. Bostock, met in New York earlier this week.
This, on top of an informal conversation between Yahoo’s new CEO Carol Bartz and Ballmer earlier, suggests Microsoft and Yahoo may be renewing negotiations over a search engine deal.
For his part, Mr. Ballmer has said Microsoft remains interested in doing a deal with Yahoo involving its web search and advertising business. Meanwhile, Ms Bartz seemed to doubt the idea when she told employees that, although she needed to study the matter, her ‘gut’ suggested it was not a good idea.
Maybe her gut has changed its mind…
