Job Search Sites Booming in Down Economy
By Anna Johnson on February 5th, 2009Mediapost reports that the job search category was the fastest growing content website category in 2008, with the number of visitors to job search sites growing by 51 percent to reach 18.8 million visitors.
Based on research by comScore, the CareerBuilder.com job search site attracted the most visitors – 9.1 million visitors – which was an increase of 78 percent compared with a year ago.
The second most popular job search site, Yahoo! HotJobs, also enjoyed an impressive growth rate, growing to 5.6 million (up 146 percent).
A notable exception to the growth trend was the Monster.com job search site which attracted fewer visitors in 2008 than in 2007. It attracted 3.8 million in 2008, reflecting a fall of 9 percent.
