iPhone Developers To Sue Apple For Late Payments?

By Anna Johnson on May 4th, 2009

TechCrunch reports that a group of developers may take legal action against Apple for failing to pay owed payments on sales of their applications in the App Store.

Apparently, some developers are complaining that Apple has been slow to pay them, or has not paid them at all.

Under Apple’s standard contract with developers, it agrees to pay developers within 45 days at the end of the month. Some developers, it seems, have still not been paid since as far back as September last year, and have not found much joy from Apple’s accounts payable staff.

If these claims are true, Apple needs to address this ASAP.

One of Apple’s biggest weapons against competitors is its huge developer base. Even if only a few developers are unhappy, it behooves Apple to keep its developers happy and focused on building more apps for the iPhone (and not other phones…).
