iPhone Accounts For 50 Percent of U.S. Smartphone Web Traffic
By Anna Johnson on March 27th, 2009A report released by AdMob Mobile Metrics reveals that Apple Computer’s iPhone now accounts for 50 percent of mobile web traffic from smartphones in the United States.
The iPhone’s share of web traffic has grown from 10 percent in August 2008, and has largely come at the expense of the Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Palm.
The Blackberry’s share of traffic has dropped from 32 percent to 21 percent in the same period, and Windows Mobile’s share has declined from 30 percent to 13 percent. Palm’s share has dropped from 19 percent in August to just 7 percent now.
Meanwhile, the Android smartphone operating system has also garnered more mobile web usage, claiming a 5 percent share from nothing just three months ago when it launched.
