According to market research firm Interpret, Internet users prefer to watch streaming video rather than having to download video first.

Based on surveying 9,000 U.S. consumers aged 12-65 years during the second quarter of 2010, Interpret finds that the incidence of streaming video has grown over the past year. In particular, the volume of TV shows and movies streamed by the average consumer has increased.

Netflix and Hulu are the most popular providers of streaming TV and movies, with Hulu in particular a major destination for TV streaming. According to Interpret, 40 percent of TV streamers have watched TV on Hulu.com in the past three months.
