Internet Users Exceed One Billion
By Anna Johnson on January 28th, 2009comScore reports that over 1 billion people now use the Internet. That’s about 15-22 percent of the world’s population. Not bad for a technology that’s only been widely accessible for 15 years or so.
The 10 countries where Internet usage is highest are as follows:
- China: 179.7 million
- United States: 163.3 million
- Japan: 60.0 million
- Germany: 37.0 million
- United Kingdom: 36.7 million
- France: 34.0 million
- India: 32.1 million
- Russia: 29.0 million
- Brazil: 27.7 million
- South Korea: 27.3 million

Non numero, sed pondere.
It’s not the number, it’s the percentage. The US have 163 mill users at about 300 mill inhabitants, while China has a bit more (179 mill) at 1 billion inhabitants. Big difference.
