Interactive Advertising Bureau To Overhaul Banner Ad Standards
By Anna Johnson on February 23rd, 2009The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), which oversees standards for display advertising, plans to invite advertising agencies to participate in this years review of banner ad guidelines.
The review – to be conducted by the IAB’s Ad Sizes Working Group – is expected to take place by the U.S. summer.
This is the first time the IAB has invited creative agencies into the banner ad review process. Hopefully, the upshot will be better alignment between the interests of publishers, who need standardization to help them place and sell ads on their sites, and advertisers, who want more scope to be creative and achieve greater visibility on publishers’ websites.
